Reforming the liturgy only matters if you believe words matter. Clearly the Episcopal Church does. Here is a statement by The Rev. Terri C. Pilarski, Rector, Christ Church Dearborn, Consultant to the Episcopal Church for the WordsMatter Expansive Language Project. "As a parish priest for ten years I understand that the primary locus of formation happens in Sunday morning worship. We Episcopalians are fond of saying, praying shapes believing. Therefore the words, symbols and images used in worship are crucial in forming our faith." The Words Matter Project focused on language of gender, but the principle remains for all language.
